Cookies
The site sets no advertising cookies. It loads Google Analytics 4 for audience statistics with analytics consent denied by default for every visitor, so no analytics cookie is written and measurement stays cookieless.
What this site sets
One measurement tag, configured so that analytics storage is denied by default for every visitor in every country. No analytics cookie is written unless that default is changed, and this site does not change it.
| Purpose | Used here? |
|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | None. The site is static and needs no session |
| Preferences | None. There are no settings to remember |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4, with analytics storage denied by default — cookieless |
| Advertising | None, and there is no advertising on this site at all |
| Measurement opt-out | gr_int, one year — written only if you open a page with ?internal=1, which switches measurement off for that browser. It exists so our own testing stays out of the figures. Nothing links to it and an ordinary visit never writes it |
Why the consent signal denies by default
Every page on this site sends a consent default that denies ad storage, ad user data, ad personalisation, analytics storage and personalisation storage — with no regional exception. That last part matters: a common pattern is to deny by default only for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, which silently grants storage to everyone else. This site does not do that, and the ordering is enforced in the page template rather than left to configuration.
Because analytics storage is denied, the measurement tag runs in a cookieless mode: it writes no analytics cookie and stores no identifier on your device. The denial is permanent rather than pending — there is no banner here, of ours or Google’s, that could switch it on, so there is nothing for you to accept and nothing to withdraw.
Cookieless is not the same as anonymous, and this page will not say otherwise. The tag is fetched from Google’s own server at googletagmanager.com, so that request reaches Google as part of how the connection works, and Google receives the page address, the page you came from, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device and browser type. An IP address is personal data under the GDPR even when it is not stored. The legal basis for the measurement is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Article 6(1)(f)). You have a right to object under Article 21, and this site has no contact mailbox routed yet to receive one — the contact page says so rather than printing an address that bounces. The control it can actually give you today is your own: blocking the script in your browser settings or with an extension stops the measurement and leaves everything else here working. Google’s own handling of the data is described at policies.google.com/privacy.
What you can do
Your browser’s own controls block third-party scripts and storage if you want a stronger guarantee than the one above; nothing on this site will break without them.
The figures you type into a calculator are never stored anywhere, cookie or otherwise — the privacy page explains why that is structural.
