Privacy policy

The prices and figures you enter stay in your browser and are never sent to us. For audience statistics the site loads Google Analytics 4, with consent for analytics storage denied by default for every visitor, so it measures without cookies. There are no advertising tags.

What you type into a calculator

Stays in your browser. Every calculator on this site runs entirely on your own device — there is no server to send a price, a wattage or a date to. Nothing you enter is transmitted, logged or stored anywhere, by us or by anyone else.

That is not a policy choice that could be reversed quietly. This site is a static export: there is no application server behind it, no database, and no endpoint that could receive a form. The absence of collection is structural.

Accounts and cookies

There are no accounts, no logins and no profiles. The site loads Google Analytics 4 for audience statistics, with consent for analytics storage denied by default for every visitor in every country — so it measures without writing an analytics cookie. The cookies page has the detail.

What Google receives on each page view is the page address, the page you came from, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device and browser type. The tag is fetched from googletagmanager.com, so your IP address is visible to Google as part of that connection — cookieless is not the same as anonymous, and an IP address is personal data under the GDPR even when it is not stored. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used, Article 6(1)(f). You have a right to object under Article 21, and no contact mailbox is routed for this site yet to receive one — the contact page says so rather than printing an address that bounces. Blocking the script in your browser settings or with an extension stops the measurement for you and leaves everything else on the site working.

Advertising

There is none. No ad network, no ad slots, no ads.txt, and no advertising identifiers of any kind. This is a fact about how the site is built rather than an undertaking about how it will be operated.

Third parties

The site loads no third-party fonts, no third-party scripts and no embedded content. The single exception is the Google Analytics tag described above. Pages link out to Revenue, to the Irish Statute Book and to the Law Reform Commission so you can check a source; following one of those links takes you to a site with its own privacy policy.

Server logs

The web server that serves these pages keeps ordinary access logs — the request, the time, the response code, and the IP address the request came from — which is what any web server does and what is needed to keep a site running and secure. They are not used to build a profile of anybody and are not combined with anything else.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability in respect of personal data about you. In practice this site holds almost nothing that could engage them: it collects no form data, keeps no accounts, and never receives the figures you type.

If you want to exercise a right or ask what is held, contact us. You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission, which is the Irish supervisory authority.

Changes to this policy

If the site ever starts measuring or collecting something it does not today, this page will say so in the same change that switches it on — the copy above is generated from the site’s own configuration precisely so that the two cannot drift apart.
